Poker In New York City No Longer A Pipe Dream

The Shinnecock Indians of Long Island, New York are on the verge of being recognized as an official Indian tribe by the federal government.  This is a precursor to the financially troubled tribe operating a casino.  And because of concerns about having a casino on heavily trafficked Long Island, specifically, in the rich Hamptons area where the Tribe is located, New York state appears interested in negotiating with the Tribe to open a full casino (including table games) in New York City.  (If the casino was on Long Island it would be slots only, per applicable federal law.).  This is of course years away, but is great news for New Yorkers nonetheless.  And probably less than good news for the already struggling Atlantic City and Connecticut casinos.
